“It was as good as every day. About three, four years ago I was drinking five, six times a week and at the highest level, which was really unhealthy," Kyrgios said. Due to the intense media attention, the pressure on him increased significantly. "I woke up and thought, 'I have to play Nadal in a few hours or Tsitsipas or these top players.' It's just not sustainable."
The spectators of the tennis star could not suspect anything - apart from freaking out on the court, which is typical for the 27-year-old. He had even won tournaments during this time. "I won a tournament there," said Kyrgios. "And it's funny because the media was like, 'Has Kyrgios turned the corner?' And it was the worst thing I have ever experienced.”
Kyrgios cancels due to injury
Nick Kyrgios recently announced his cancellation for Indian Wells and Miami. The injury he sustained before the Australian Open, which also prevented him from competing in his home slam, is taking longer than expected. Let's hope that the meniscus injury and his private problems "heal".
