Novak Djokovic is back on tour, after his entry drama in Australia and the entry ban in the USA, he was last at the start in Monte Carlo and Belgrade. Although tainted with doubts: in the principality he was kicked out early against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, in Belgrade, at home, he had to turn a set deficit three times; the fourth time, in the final, he was finally at the end of his tether .
Djokovic then spoke of an "illness" that had recently thrown him back , and coach Goran Ivanisevic had already indicated something similar in Monte Carlo. Djokovic ruled out another illness from the corona virus, he spoke of "something that affects the metabolism" and that he felt tired in the final against Andrey Rublev at the end of the second set.
How Djokovic will do in the coming weeks, what his health is like - it's one of the bigger questions about number 1.
Amanovic is needed at the Novak Tennis Centre
However, there is clarity as to what Djokovic's team will look like in the future - this will get smaller again. As the tennismajors.com website reports, Djokovic will be traveling without Miljan Amanovic, one of his physiotherapists, in the future.
The reason: "Miljan has traveled a lot, he has three children. We also have big plans here at the Novak Tennis Center, we want to turn it into an academy, and Miljan is one of the key figures in it. I'm happy that he took on this role has, he will be of great importance to us," said Djokovic during the Belgrade tournament .
Amanovic is the next to not go on tour with Djokovic after long-term coach Marian Vajda at the beginning of the year. He was also just tired of traveling a lot, after working with Dominik Hrbaty, among others, and finally 15 years at his side, according to Djokovic. "I'm glad we were able to say goodbye here and that I thanked him in front of the people in Belgrade." In addition to Vajda and Amanovic, Djokovic also thanked ex-fitness coach Gebhard Gritsch during the award ceremony in Belgrade.
Additions to the team are not planned, according to Djokovic.
So he will continue to serve with coach Goran Ivanisevic, fitness trainer Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Uli Badio.
Next from May 1st in Madrid.
