Novak Djokovic - Preparations for 2022 already started: "Runs excellent"

Novak Djokovic was in a good mood at a basketball match in his home country of Serbia - despite, or perhaps because of, the fierce speculation about his vaccination status and the associated start at the Australian Open in early January.

Will Novak Djokovic blow to attack number ten title at the Australian Open? There is hardly a question right now that keeps the tennis circus on its toes like this. And Novak Djokovic? This doesn't seem to bother him to a certain extent. Only on Tuesday did the world number one in the EuroLeague match between FC Barcelona and Red Star Belgrade (basketball) do the honors. And was in a great mood. Also with regard to questions about the current status of his preparation.

Visibly satisfied, the most successful tennis player of the last few years attended the narrow home defeat of his Belgrade team as a fan, patiently took photos with players and other fans and also answered questions from the local press. "The preparations for 2022 have already started and are going extremely well," said the Serb. Without - once again - being specific about his start Down Under.

Djokovic on the entry list for the ATP Cup

It is therefore still only vague whether the world number one will be seen at his most successful Grand Slam tournament in mid-January. Djokovic's decision shouldn't be delayed for too long, if a trip to Australia would also be a start at the ATP Cup - at least the Serb is now on the entry list of the team event. And, as is well known, this begins on January 1st.

Novak Djokovic also played the last match of the 2021 season in the course of a country tournament - the 34-year-old led his Serbs at the Davis Cup Finals and up to the semifinals, where he ended up with Croatia in the decisive double. At the ATP Cup, Djokovic, Lajovic, Krajinovic & Co will meet Chile, Norway and Spain in the group stage.
