There is almost a 17-year age difference between Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal. So there will probably no longer be an epic rivalry between the two Spaniards, who winter as numbers one and two in the ATP world rankings. The three encounters so far have offered interesting sport: in 2021 in Madrid Nadal was still too strong for Alcaraz, just under a year later in Indian Wells the victory of the veteran was closer. And a few weeks later, back in the Caja Magica, Alcaraz was actually able to defeat Nadal in three sets on the way to winning the tournament.

Of course, the dates of the next meetings on the tour cannot be predicted, but at least Nadal and Alcaraz have arranged a date in Las Vegas. An exhibition fight is to take place there at the beginning of March in the MGM Grand Hotel, the proceeds of which are also to benefit the Nadal Foundation.

Nadal visits Las Vegas for the first time

Amazing, but true: Rafael Nadal will come to the gaming Mecca in Nevada for the first time. "I'm really looking forward to my first visit to Las Vegas, one of the most iconic and fun cities in the world," Nadal said in a press release. "I will play with my compatriot Carlos Alcaraz, who has had a great year. It should be a great night for tennis at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.”

March 5, 2023 is a good date, because the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells is coming up immediately afterwards. It can even be reached by car from Las Vegas without much effort.

Carlos Alcaraz also spoke up. "I'm honored and happy to share the Las Vegas court with Rafa. He's an all-time great and his records and performances speak for themselves. Rafa is also one of the nicest colleagues on the Tour."
