While Dominic Thiem had to cancel his start at the exhibition event in Abu Dhabi shortly before his planned comeback , Rafael Nadal is still planning to return to the match court in the United Arab Emirates. If you look into the coaching box at the "Mubadala World Tennis Championships" you will see a face that is still unknown in this position.

Finally - as the "Marca" reports - Marc Lopez will take on the coaching role in Abu Dhabi. The 39-year-old won the gold medal with Nadal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and is considered one of the best friends of the 20-time Grand Slam winner. Should Nadal's foot stand the test, Lopez will also accompany the world number six in Australia.

The signing of Lopez will not have any influence on the two previous coaches Carlos Moya and Francisco Roig: Both will stay with Nadal as coach.

Lopez already gained experience as coach of Feliciano Lopez last year. The 39-year-old has not yet ended his career, but he played his last match to date in July at the ATP 250 tournament in Kitzbühel.
