The International Tennis Hall of Fame has at least once borrowed a few new gems for its collection: Roger Federer is donating his Laver Cup outfit 2022 until further notice.

If the rules for the Maestro himself are not bent, then Roger Federer will not be able to take his well-deserved place in the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, until 2028 at the earliest. The waiting time after retiring from active events is five years, if the Laver Cup 2022 is actually seen as the final point - and there is little to be said against it - then Federer will lead the Class of '28.
Roger Federer will take it, he's still a young guy. But he has already sent something ahead in the direction of Newport: Namely his outfit, which he wore next to Rafael Nadal on that magical Friday evening in London's O2 Arena when his great career ended in defeat against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock. What everyone involved had already forgotten a few minutes later.
Martin is happy about the loan from Federer
Todd Martin, President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Federer's opponent in 2001 in a Davis Cup game in Basel (which the local hero won in four sets), was delighted with the loan from the fresh tennis retiree.
"We are extremely grateful to Roger for his generous loan," said Martin. "And for acknowledging Roger's appreciation of our mission to preserve tennis history as it is being written. The ITHF congratulates Roger on all his achievements, the example he has set for everyone in the sport and his dedication to sporting history. We are certain that this exhibit will inspire countless fans and visitors alike.”
