Sam Querrey retired from tennis at the age of 34.

It's over at the age of 34: Sam Querrey is giving up his tennis racket and ending his active career as a professional. The American played his last match on the tour at the US Open, in round one it was the final stop against Ilya Ivashka in four sets. In the doubles competition, Querrey failed alongside Steve Johnson a day later, also at the start.
"My body is a little tired. I've been at the US Open since 2006. I have two young children. I want to do something different. I want to test my mind somewhere else and try something new. I feel like this is the right one The time is," Querrey explained his decision in an interview with ATP .
Querrey won ten titles in his career on the ATP Tour and reached a career-high eleventh place. In addition, the strong American had 23 wins against top ten players, the most memorable of which was in 2016 in the third round of Wimbledon against the then world number one Novak Djokovic. A year later, the man from San Francisco even reached the semi-finals of the grass classic.
"I think I've been pretty consistent over the years. I've only missed a few majors in 17 years. I've been a pretty good player in big matches. I feel like the better the opponent, the better I've played I had some great wins," said Querrey, who, in addition to Djokovic, has also defeated Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka over the course of his career.
