Not so long ago, Simon Graf wrote a biography about Roger Federer, published by kurz&bündig Verlag, with the catchy title "Roger Federer". After the announcement of Federer's retirement, Graf spoke to Severin Lüthi, Switzerland's longtime Davis Cup captain and also Federer's coach. Graf shared the answers in a long thread on his Twitter account (@SimonGraf). Here are a few excerpts.

Severin Lüthi about ...

... his feelings for Roger Federer:

Roger made it easy for us. Of course it was an emotional decision for him. Otherwise he would never have been able to celebrate such successes at this level. There is a lot of passion behind it. But Roger is always so positive about everything.

... the Laver Cup next week in London:

He will try to play. We'll see if that's in singles or doubles. He wants to be part of the team and try to play. Roger still wants to put himself above the Laver Cup. But I think the reactions will be overwhelming. There will be goosebump moments.

... Federer's greatest successes:

Spontaneously I would say: the last title in Wimbledon (2017), his comeback in Australia (2017) when nobody expected that he could win. winning the Davis Cup in Lille (2014), and gold at the Olympics with Stan Wawrinka (2008); and Paris 2009.

... the legacy of Federer:

I think many will remember him primarily as a nice person. That's more important than winning a title more or less. His friendliness, how he behaved towards other players. Roger has helped players treat each other with more respect.
