It was extremely surprising news that Simona Halep posted on social media a week ago: From now on, she will no longer work with long-term coach Darren Cahill, said the Romanian. The separation came as a surprise mainly because Cahill had led the Romanian to the top of the world rankings and to the French Open title in 2018.

The search for a new coach didn't take too long, however. As it became known on Wednesday, the Romanian Adrian Marcu joined the world number 15 team. added. Halep had already worked with her compatriot in 2013.

The 30-year-old's coaching team now consists of Marcu and Daniel Dobre, who coached Halep in 2019 in Cahill's absence, among other things, on the Wimbledon trophy. The two will look after the Romanian at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, which starts next week.
