He is one of the really big absentee at the highlights on the ATP tour: the Swiss Stan Wawrinka. Having three Grand Slam titles difficult, the 36-year-old can always be expected to have a surprise, even though the physical problems are getting worse for the veteran. Now they are forcing him to take a longer break, as the Swiss had to undergo another operation on his left foot.

Stan Wawrinka had already undergone a "minor operation" on his left foot at the end of March this year, but the continued pain made the new operation necessary. "Same place, different day. That's not where I want to be, but I still have a smile on my face," said Wawrinka on Twitter in a short video showing the bandaged foot.

Quite a setback for the Swiss, but one that was simply necessary to get back to old strength, as Stan Wawrinka explained in a live chat: "I miss the tour, that's why it's my goal for even after the second operation on my left foot the next few months to come back and get in shape, "said the 36-year-old.

"Life on tour is something very special, and you chose it at a young age," emphasized the three-time Grand Slam winner. Wawrinka's last match was on March 9, when he lost three sets against Lloyd Harris. It is currently unclear when the power player's next appearance will take place.
