One thing is known for sure about Novak Djokovic: the 21-time Grand Slam champion thinks about at least umpteen times who he wants to work with in the long term - both sportingly and economically. Of course - without common ideas and goals, a successful cooperation in the spheres in which the former world number one is located is simply not possible.
And so the Austrian scale-up "Waterdrop" deserves to celebrate a deal with the 35-year-old superstar that goes far beyond pure sponsorship. The "Djoker" not only wants to participate financially in the up-and-coming company, but even work on the development of new product lines.
Djokovic fire and flame for "Waterdrop"
The noble thought behind the products from "Waterdrop" is a future without sugary drinks in cheaply produced disposable plastic. Healthy nutrition and sustainability are also important concerns for the Serb, who was won over to a partnership at a meeting in Marbella in December that was made possible at short notice.
"Waterdrop" CEO Martin Murray told the internet platform "brutkasten" that Djokovic was on fire for the company's philosophy: "He actually only had an hour, but our appointment lasted more than four hours." After the meeting, it was clear that "Nole" wanted to invest immediately and help to become really big globally.
Also partnerships with Fritz and Collins
Going forward, Djokovic will present the Waterdrop logo to interested TV viewers on his left arm. He also wants to use the sustainable beverage bottles everywhere, avoid plastic bottles and use the flavor drops wherever possible. "Djokovic is generally extremely interested, passionate and reflective, thinks long-term and wants to help Waterdrop even after his active career," Murray continued.
Recently, the Viennese company with 300 employees has offered interesting electrolyte drops, especially for athletes. Waterdrop has other partnerships in the tennis sector, for example with the US professionals Taylor Fritz and Danielle Collins. "Many tournaments and athletes have recognized that we are a brand of the future and above all that we can help get rid of all those plastic bottles."
