If you work hard, you should also go on a good holiday - that's nothing new. And tennis pros work very hard. The season is long, the world big, the tennis courts small, but at least high. And the season is actually over.
So where to relax? Well, the Maldives are one of the most sought-after vacation destinations on the ATP and WTA side: Serena Williams was there again this year, and Alexander Zverev would like to get there as soon as possible if he does not have Roger Federer to play a few show fights in South America and still an eye surgery would be.
Also, the Bahamas are high on the tennis player holiday list, Coco Gauff pulled it there, maybe because of the turtles, you could not blame her.
The conclusion of our small look on Twitter, Instagram and Co. on the most popular holiday destinations: sun and beach are by far ahead. Somewhat confusing, however: Ironically, beach photographer -inventor Genie Bouchard seems to be fed up, much more than a photo at the burger dinner is not (to date) to find. However, Genie played in the week before a tournament , so it remains the hope.
Interestingly meanwhile the approach of Belinda Bencic. The Swiss, who made such a wonderful comeback in 2019, moved back to Switzerland after the end of the season in Shenzhen, where she gave a final interview to a group of local journalists. "I do not go to the heat, because otherwise I would have to fly again, pack again, that would be too stressful." A trip to Slovakia to her friend is still planned.
She was especially looking forward to not being fit for two weeks and not having to play tennis, Bencic said. And also: "In the Maldives are now all players anyway."
