Taro Daniel won the title in Hamburg

Throughout the week, Taro Daniel had improved from match to match and only lost two sets on the way to the final. In today's final at the DTB base in Hamburg Horn against Sebastian Ofner he showed an almost perfect match and earned the title at the Tennis Challenger presented by Tannenhof.

Right from the start, the 27-year-old Japanese put his Austrian opponent, who was struggling with minor shoulder problems, under pressure with his aggressive game. Ofner was powerless, especially when his opponent served a strong serve, and never found his way into the game. After 25 minutes of play, the first round went 6: 1 to Daniel, who was in second position.

A similar picture in sentence two: A first early break to 2: 1 followed by the former number 64 in the world rankings another to 5: 2. With his own serve, he then converted his 5th match point to a 6: 1 and 6: 2 victory after 1:10 playing time.

“I had a great week in Hamburg and I kept developing through play. Today I made it very difficult for my opponent and never let him get into the game. I am very happy and hope that I can take the momentum with me into the next tournament, ”said Taro Daniel at the award ceremony.

The victory goes to the Japanese Botic van de Zandschulp (Netherlands), who won the first edition of the Tennis Challenger Hamburg presented by Tannenhof last year.
