The US Open had already shown the way last year with the exception of the two largest courts in the facility. In 2021, all major tournaments of the US Open Series will follow the example of the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year: "Electronic Line Calling" will be used in seven of the nine scheduled events are used.
In addition to the US Open, the events in Toronto (1000 men), Montreal (1000 women), Cincinnati (1000 women and men), Atlanta (250 men), Winston-Salem (250 men) and Cleveland (250 women) do without the Support from line judges. Only in Newport (250 men) and San Jose (500 women) do not yet fully rely on technology.
Indian Wells also relies on electronic line calling
The USTA, the ATP and the WTA announced in a joint press release that all tournament courts of the seven affected events will be equipped with the electronic line calling system.
As the portal tennismajors.com reported in January, the digital solution will also be used in Indian Wells. It was only recently announced that the tournament in the California desert will take place in October this year .
