After Novak Djokovic equalized for the Serbian team against Jiri Lehecka, the team's star player decided not to take part in the decisive mixed doubles. Djokovic had his forearm treated in the singles, but then played confidently.
The ATP NextGen winner Hamad Medjedovic came into action alongside Olga Danilovic. Against the Czech duo Kolodziejova/Nouza, the doubles team, who were nominated at short notice, needed a few minutes to find their way into the match. However, after falling behind in a set, the Serbian team fought their way back into the game and won the tiebreak of the second set.
The final match tiebreak gave Serbia a 4:6, 7:6(2), 10:8 and secured the associated group victory in Group E in Perth. This guarantees participation in the quarter-finals of this year's United Cup.
