The reopening of the All England Lawn Tennis Club is slower than hoped: As of today, only three places will be available for members.

Perhaps that's good news for professional tennis players who won't be returning to Church Road until 2021 - but club members of the AELTC are unlikely to be as happy. As the Daily Telegraph reports, from Saturday onwards only three courts will be unlocked for free use. And none of them on grass! Two hard courts, one artificial sand - that's it. Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Co. do not have to worry that the tournament surface will be overused.
The AELTC has 375 members, and those responsible want to wait and see how the overall situation in Great Britain develops. Most tennis clubs had recently started operating again.
The most prestigious tournament in the tennis circus should have started on June 29 this year, but was canceled early by the organizers. In contrast to the French Open or the US Open, Wimbledon had taken out insurance in the event of a pandemic. The AELTC will reimburse those fans who already had tickets for the Wimbledon 2020 tournament. Or offers the option to exchange cards for the same session in the coming year.
