John Jeffrey Wolf made a hot contender for Shot of the Year at the Miami ATP Masters 1000 event

From a sporting point of view, JJ Wolf, as the American John Jeffrey is commonly known, will be reasonably satisfied with his performances at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami. Qualification managed, round one survived and in the round of the last 64 the number three of the tournament, Stefanos Tsitsipas, stood up to long stretches, so the local hero's passable record.

Of course, JJ Wolf will not remain in collective memory. But very well with that extraordinary moment that the 23-year-old was able to produce towards the end of the second sentence. The score? 5: 5, 15: 0 for the man from the USA. The rally? Little promising for Wolf. Tsitsipas sends the American far out with a clean cross-court backhand, and tennis fans will find what follows in many a highlight reel this year.

JJ Wolf: "Played with my left hand all summer"

John Jeffrey Wolf recognizes the hopelessness of the situation, changes his batting hand in a flash - and passes the attacking Greeks along the line with his weak arm, which is worth seeing. The following pose of celebration: nadalesk, one is inclined to say. And more than appropriate. The American's secret? He likes to warm up with his left hand, as Wolf explained after the match against Tsitsipas. "I actually broke my wrist once at a football game. So I played with my left hand for a whole summer."

In the short term, this exceptional blow in the match with Tsitsipas gave the American a boost: Round two went to the outsider a few minutes later in the tie-break, but it shouldn't be enough for JJ Wolf this Saturday (local time) for the big sensation. With regard to an extremely good placement in the shot-of-the-year ranking this year, however, Wolf has achieved a very good starting position.
