After his victory over Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev also prevailed against Andreas Seppi in the World Tennis League on Friday. The German, who is playing for the Hawks in the team exhibition, beat the Italian (Eagles), who had already retired, 6:4 and 6:2. Originally, Zverev should have played against Nick Kyrgios, but the Australian did without the individual.
Instead, Kyrgios competed for the Eagles alongside Bianca Andreescu in mixed doubles. The two defeated Dominic Thiem and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6: 4, 4: 6 and 10: 7. The subsequent women's singles was won by Hawk player Elena Rybakina against Caroline Garcia 7:5 and 6:1.
Overall, the Hawks were able to celebrate a 35:24 victory and the associated entry into the final. The final opponent will be determined on Friday between the Kites (including Iga Swiatek) and the Falcons (including Djokovic).
