Cori Gauff has rarely appeared on the tennis court on social media in the past few days, but one can safely assume that the American has not let the preparation for the new season slip. Gauff will start her 2023 campaign in Auckland, New Zealand, starting as number one. The first opponent has it all: Tatjana Maria, the Wimbledon semi-finalist from last year.
An American is also listed in second place, namely Sloane Stephens. There are generally fewer training pictures of the US Open winner from 2017, but at least something has changed in Stephens' coaching position: Francisco Roig, who was in Rafael Nadal's team for years, can now try his luck on the WTA tour. Stephens plays Rebeka Masarova, a native of Switzerland and representing Spain, in round one.
Raducanu vs Early Virtova
Lelyah Fernandez starts as number three, the Canadian opens against Brenda Frühvirtova. And could meet Julia Grabher in round two. So the Austrian should win against Tereza Martincova.
The meeting between Emma Raducanu and Linda Frühvirtova, the older of the two very young Czech sisters, could be exciting. And Venus Williams is also at the start. She starts against her compatriot Katie Volynets.
