Marta Kostyuk clinched the first tournament win of her career in Austin, Texas

"It's very surreal," said Marta Kostyuk during the winner's interview on Center Court of the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Austin. And maybe the 20-year-old Ukrainian didn't just mean the fact that she had just won her first tournament in her career. Kostyuk prevailed in the final against the Russian Varvara Gracheva after 91 minutes of play 6:3, 7:5.

The young lady from Kiev, who was 52nd in the world rankings before her triumph, was still the top-ranked player in the women's charts at the time and had not yet reached the final of a WTA tour event. So now the final success against Gracheva, who had also never been in a title match on the big women's tour before. Not surprisingly, Kostyuk dedicated her success to the people in her homeland who are fighting for their lives in the war against Russia.

Here the single tableau from Austin.
