A total of eight teams qualified for the final, including Poland, Australia, England, Romania, Germany, USA, Japan and Slovenia. Also taking part are last year's winning team, Canada, Italy as runners-up, Spain as hosts and the Czech Republic, which received a wildcard.
The German team qualified for the final, which will be held in Seville in November, with a 3-1 victory against Brazil. Thanks to the decisive victory by Laura Siegemund, the German Porsche team secured the spot early on, so that a doubles match was no longer necessary. Rainer Schüttler's team is in the final for the third time.
Also in contention are Japan and Romania, who have qualified for the final for the first time ever. Serving for Japan will be Naomi Osaka, who also won on her return to the Billie Jean Cup. Also in contention will be the English team. Raducanu, who has returned to the British national team after a long injury layoff, put in a strong performance to beat former world number four Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry, the latter 4-6, 6-1, 7-6, to put Great Britain into the final in November. The Polish team comfortably beat Switzerland 4-0, thanks to two wins from Swiatek.
