As of this week, Tamara Korpatsch is again among the top 100 in the ranking.

Korpatsch, who has moved back into the top 100 in the WTA ranking this week, fought a match with many breaks against the lucky loser. The two players were only able to get through eight of the 20 service games.

Korpatsch turned a 0:3 deficit in the first set and then kept his nerve in the decisive situations. In the next round, the Hamburg native meets Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova, who is eighth. Also from a German point of view is Tatjana Maria, who meets Fanny Stollar.

Top seed Bernarda Pera fails

The American Bernada Pera (WTA ranking 39), who was seeded at number one in the tournament, lost in two sets to the 19-year-old Russian Diana Shnaider (WTA ranking 110). This makes fourth-seeded Yulia Putintseva the highest-seeded player in the tournament after round one who could face Korpatsch in the quarterfinals.
