Six months, that's how far the WTA dares to look ahead when it comes to their calendar for the upcoming tennis year 2023. There are probably several reasons for this: the tour managers are avoiding taking a firm position on the possible return to China. Most of the tournaments there take place in autumn. And no matter how much it is emphasized again and again that you don't even think about playing in Beijing or Shenzhen again because of the unclear situation surrounding Peng Shuai - in the end it's also true for the WTA: money talks.

In addition, there is the question of the venue for the WTA Finals, which has been clarified at short notice and with varying degrees of success over the past two years: Guadalajara turned out to be a complete success, Fort Worth a flop.

And so the calendar is limited to the first six months. It starts with the United Cup, at the same time two other tournaments are taking place in Adelaide (500cc) and Auckland (250cc).
For the German-speaking tennis fans, it will be interesting for the first time at the beginning of February: The autumn classic from Linz has been postponed to winter, the Upper Austrian Open is scheduled for February 6th to 12th.

After that, it'll soon be across the pond. Until the tennis elite meets from April 17 to 23, 2023 in Stuttgart at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. At the only clay court tournament to be played with the roof closed.
