WTA Charleston: Julia Grabher celebrates opening victory
Julia Grabher (WTA No. 89) won her opening match at the WTA 500 event in Charleston.

Grabher won against ten seeded Shuai Zhang (WTA No. 28) with 6:4, 1:6 and 6.3 and thus caused a small surprise on day 1 of the tournament on green ash.
She now meets the winner of the match between Kayla Day and Sachia Vickery.
Top seed in Charleston is Jessica Pegula ahead of Ons Jabeur, both have a bye to start. Just like Belinda Bencic, who was placed fourth.
