So Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur will fight for the title at the US Open 2022 tomorrow. However, not about the position of the number in the WTA world rankings. It's firmly in Swiatek's hands. Especially since Jabeur, as is well known, was not able to make up any points against the Pole, who was eliminated early, by reaching the final in Wimbledon. No points were awarded in London this year.
One player, however, has taken the next step forward in New York City: Coco Gauff. Although the American lost to Caroline Garcia in the quarter-finals, starting Monday she will be listed among the ten best players in the world for the first time. In eighth place. The 18-year-old is the youngest player since Nicole Vaidisova, who reached the top of women's tennis in 2006 at the age of 17.
With Jessica Pegula, a compatriot of Gauff will also reach a new career high. Pegula also failed at the US Open against Swiatek in the quarterfinals, but is up to fifth place in the charts.
