You really don't have to worry about Iga Swiatek . After her surprising round of 16 at the Australian Open, the world number one at the WTA 500 tournament in Doha is already in top form again. On the way to the final, the Pole has so far given up two silly games.

Admittedly, the fact that Abu Dhabi winner Belinda Bencic was not able to play against Swiatek in the quarter-finals naturally helps these statistics. Nevertheless, the achievements of the 21-year-old are strongly reminiscent of last year, when Swiatek started a brilliant run in the capital of Qatar, which after 37 wins in a row only ended in the third round of Wimbledon.

In the semi-final against Veronika Kudermetova, Swiatek won 6-0 and 6-1, as he did in round two against Danielle Collins. Once again, the three-time Grand Slam winner distributed - thanks to the beauty of the English language - a "bagel" and a "breadstick".

It remains to be seen whether Swiatek will also open her bakery in the final against Jessica Pegula on Saturday. The respect for the US-American, who was seeded in second place, was only noticeable in the Pole: "It always takes a lot to win against Jessie. She's a great player."
