After the early exit in the round of 16 at the Australian Open, Iga Swiatek came back impressively against Elena Rybakina. Swiatek only needed 69 minutes to win the final of the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Doha against Jessica Pegula 6:3 and 6:0. Swiatek had lost against the American at the United Cup at the beginning of the year.
Swiatek, who is still only 21, has completed the dozen of tournament successes on the WTA tour. The next one is to follow next week at the fantastic 1000er in Dubai. There Swiatek meets either Leylah Fernandez or Julia Grabher after a bye.
Jessica Pegula can at least console herself with the title in doubles. She had already won it on Friday alongside Cori Gauff against Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok.
Here is the individual tableau in Doha.
