Nobody should claim that Anett Kontaveit is only capable of great things in the hall. Well, the Estonian hasn't lost indoors in more than 20 games (most recently she won the title in St. Petersburg). But Kontaveit continues to impress in the open air in Doha. And that was not to be expected against the revived Jelena Ostapenko. Kontaveit didn't stay long with the 2017 French Open winner, winning 6-1 and 6-4 after 68 minutes of play.
In the final on Saturday, Kontaveit meets Iga Swiatek, also a woman who has already succeeded at Roland Garros. Swiatek managed to win a match against Maria Sakkari for the first time in her career. However, the 6: 4 and 6: 3 easily hides the fact that Sakkari was the first player to break in both sets. However, Swiatek, who had eliminated the tournament favorite Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals, made a comeback and scored her first match point after 88 minutes of play.
The balance of the two finalists in Doha is balanced after four matches, the most recent comparison at the US Open 2021 went to Iga Swiatek.
