Badosa beat Canada's Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16 and remains undefeated in Indian Wells.

Her match record at the desert tournament is now 9-0, Badosa had surprisingly won in 2021 (because it was autumn). Should she win the title again, she would be the first player to do so since Martina Navratilova in 1990 and 1991.

There were chances between Badosa and Fernandez on both sides: Fernndez created six break chances but only took one of them; Badosa came up with twelve, of which she converted at least three. In addition, Fernandez had the slightly worse rate with 37 mistakes.

Badosa now meets the winner of the game between Veronika Kudermetova and Marketa Vondrousova.

Also in the quarterfinals were Elena Rybakina (7:6 (2), 6:2 vs. Viktorija Golubic), Maria Sakkari (resigned from opponent Daria Saville when the score was 4:1), Madison Keys (6:1, 6:4 vs Harriet Dart) and Petra Martic (7: 6 (6), 6: 4 against Liudmila Samsonova).

Simona Halep (6: 1, 6: 4 against Sorana Cirstea) and Iga Swiatek (4: 6, 6: 2, 6: 3 against Angelique Kerber) had already progressed.
