With Tatjana Maria, the last German lady left the WTA Tour 1000 event in Indian Wells

Tatjana Maria was the last German player to drop out of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells. The Wimbledon semi-finalist lost 6-2, 6-1 to eighth-seeded Russian Daria Kasatkina on Sunday night after just about an hour of play.

In the first round Maria had beaten the Italian Jasmine Paolini. The 35-year-old from Bad Saulgau was the only German to make it into the second round of the $8.8 million hard court tournament: Jule Niemeier and Laura Siegemund failed at their opening hurdles.

From a German point of view, only Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is represented in the men's competition. The 25-year-old from Hamburg meets the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori in the third round on Sunday.

Here is the women's singles tableau from Indian Wells.
