The WTA announced the launch of a new coaching initiative on Thursday in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The goal is to attract and retain female coaches. The "Coach Inclusion Program" is intended to help break down barriers and make it easier to enter the world of tennis coaches. The new program will also focus on increasing the number of women coaches on the women's tour by promoting both grassroots and professional coaching as an attractive career option.
They also want to recruit current and former athletes and coaches and offer targeted training mentorship and career advice.

The initiative presented is an extension of the WTA Coach Program that was launched in 2017. This was created to professionalize and recognize the role of the coach on the WTA Tour. "The Coach Inclusion Program is an important step in diversifying and expanding our coaching pool," said Steve Simon, WTA Chairman and CEO. The program is divided into three steps and takes place both live and online. The aim is to obtain a valid trainer certificate.
