WTA Istanbul: From qualification - Anastasia Potapova wins premiere title in Turkey
Russia's Anastasia Potapova won the final of the WTA Tour 250 event in Istanbul over her compatriot Veronika Kudermetova .

From qualification to tournament success: Anastasia Potapova won her first title on the big women's tour at the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Istanbul. In the final of the clay court event in the Turkish capital, the junior Wimbledon champion of 2016 clearly defeated her compatriot Veronika Kudermetova, who had been seeded three, 6:3, 6:1 after only 1:23 hours of play. For the current world number 93. it was the third final participation on the WTA tour in her young career - in 2018 Potapova had had the better end for herself, neither in Moscow nor in Tashkent.
While successes over Dea Herdzelas (Bosnia-Herezogvina) and Andrea Lazaro Garcia (Spain) were achieved in the preliminary round, the 21-year-old from xxx delivered successes over Nikola Bartunkova (Czech Republic), Petra Martic (Croatia), Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain) in the main draw ) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva. Potapova improves to around 78th position in the WTA rankings with her debut title.
