Opening success for Jule Niemeier at the WTA 250 tournament in Lyon: The German prevailed against Olga Danilovic 7: 5, 2: 6 and 6: 3 on Monday. In the round of 16, she surprisingly faces Camila Osorio.
Osora defeated third-placed Alize Cornet 6-4, 4-6, and 6-1 in round one. With Garbine Muguruza, a two-time Grand Slam winner has already had to say goodbye. The Spaniard lost to Linda Noskova 1: 6 and 4: 6.
Meanwhile, the top seeded player in Lyon is Caroline Garcia, fifth in the world rankings. She faces Tereza Martincova on Tuesday.
