The 24-year-old defeated Rybakina 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, causing one of the surprises in the early stages of the tournament. Kalinskaya had already knocked out Czech hope Linda Fruhvirtova in Round 1. Rybakina still had a bye then.
Also through are Daria Kasatkina after beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6:4, 6:3, Barbora Krejcikova after beating Danka Kovinic 6:3, 4:6, 6:0 and Martina Trevisan after beating Eugenie 6:2, 7:5 Bouchard.
Jessica Pegula, number 3 in the world (against Magdalena Frech), will also be at the start later. And in the evening from 8 p.m.: Iga Swiatek. The world number one meets lucky loser Julia Grabher from Austria.
