WTA Miami: Iga Swiatek wins Sunshine Double after final win over Naomi Osaka
The winner of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami is Iga Swiatek. The Pole prevailed against Naomi Osaka 6:4 and 6:0 in the final and thus also secured the Sunshine Double.

Next great success for Iga Swiatek: Thanks to a 6: 4 and 6: 0 win over Naomi Osaka, the 20-year-old also triumphed at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. Having already won in Indian Wells two weeks ago, the Pole became the first player since Victoria Azarenka in 2016 to claim the Sunshine Double.
In the final, Swiatek turned in the first set with an early break to make it 3: 2 and never let himself be dissuaded from it. In the second round, the 2020 Osaka French Open winner even missed the maximum penalty.
From Monday, Swiatek will also lead the world rankings for the first time. One day after her retirement, Ashleigh Barty announced that she would have her name removed from the WTA charts.
