The women's matches at the WTA Tour 1000 tournament in Miami on Saturday didn't really get going. First, Karolina Muchova withdrew from her match against Naomi Osaka due to an abdominal muscle injury. The Japanese, who defeated Angelique Kerber in round two, is now in the round of 16 and will meet either Ann Li or Alison Riske there.
Lucia Bronzetti is also without a fight because her opponent Anna Kalinskaya was unable to compete due to an elbow injury. Bronzetti plays against Daria Saville the day after tomorrow for a place in the quarter-finals. Saville, on the other hand, benefited from Katerina Siniakova's resignation at 6-0 and 1-0.
After all: Belinda Bencic made progress with a smooth 6: 4 and 6: 1 against Heather Watson, as did Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins, who defeated Vera Zvonareva 6: 1 and 6: 4.
