Donna Vekic won her fourth career title at the tournament in Monterrey

Donna Vekic is back! After the Croatian was mainly occupied with physical problems, especially at the beginning of the 2022 season, the year 2023 is going well for the 26-year-old South Slavic. Vekic prevailed in the final of the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, somewhat surprisingly against the top seeded Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia 6: 4, 3: 6 and 7: 5.

It is the fourth WTA tournament success for the lady from Osijek, who can work her way up to position 23 in the WTA ranking with the final triumph. At the same time of year, Vekic was still ranked 110th in the WTA rankings in 2022. Garcia, on the other hand, has to wait for her first title win of the current season. The fifth in the world rankings also failed in the final of their home tournament in Lyon at the beginning of February - at that time against the American Alycia Parks in two sets.

Here the single tableau from Monterrey.
