The next tournament, the next semi-final for Cori Gauff: As in the previous week in Rome, the 17-year-old American has now made it to the semi-finals of the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Parma. Gauff won the first time they met Amanda Anisimova at the WTA level 6: 3 and 6: 3. Katerina Sinakova, who knocked tournament favorite Serena Williams out of the competition in the second round, is now waiting on Friday. Siniakova won her quarter-finals against Caroline Garcia 7-5 and 6-1.
The first movement between Gauff and Anisimova began with a true break festival - before Gauff caught up. And certainly took the lead 6-3. In the second round, Anisimova initially had the upper hand, but Cori Gauff made an irresistible comeback and used her fourth match point to make it to the semifinals.
In the bottom half, Sloane Stephens was the first to reach the round of four. The 2017 US Open winner had no problems with the last remaining local hero Sara Errani at 6: 3 and 6: 0. Stephens will meet either Qiang Wang or the second seeded Croatian Petra Martic in the semi-finals.
