WTA rankings: Swiatek in other spheres, Niemeier already in the top 75
Iga Swiatek has further extended her lead in the WTA charts by winning the US Open. Jule Niemeier, who lost to Swiatek in the round of 16 in New York, has reached a new career high.

Now it's finally official what the feeling has been suggesting all year: Iga Swiatek is at least twice as good as the rest of the world. Well, maybe the difference in the final of the US Open against Ons Jabeur wasn't that blatant after all. In the current world rankings, however, Swiatek (10,365) has more than twice as many points as Jabeur (5,090), who returned to second place in the charts.
Two Americans have worked their way up: Jessica Pegula is among the five best women in the world for the first time, Coco Gauff made it into the top ten and is currently eighth.
Swiatek and Jabeur qualified for WTA finals
A new career high can also be reported for Jule Niemeier. The Dortmund native, who had stood up to Swiatek for a long time in the round of 16 of the US Open, is in 73rd place. And is therefore the second best German behind Angelique Kerber, who is currently taking a baby break.
In the annual ranking, the Race to Fort Worth, Swiatek and Jabeur have already secured a place at the season finale. Pegula and Gauff follow in third and fourth place, Caroline Garcia, Aryna Sabalenka, Daria Kasatkina and Simona Halep would also currently be qualified.
