Tennis professional Tatjana Maria failed in the first round of the WTA tournament in Rome. The 35-year-old from Bad Saulgau lost to Hungarian Anna Bondar 4: 6, 1: 6 on Wednesday. The Wimbledon semi-finalist had to congratulate her opponent after just 72 minutes.
It was also Maria's first first-round loss since the Miami Open in March. The mother of two then won the tournament in Bogota (Colombia). In Stuttgart and Madrid Maria was eliminated in the second round.
Anna-Lena Friedsam is also still in action against the Spaniard Paula Badosa in Rome on Wednesday.
