WTA San Jose: Paula Badosa stops Coco Gauff, Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka out

Paula Badosa, who had a rather bumpy start to the tournament and only bought her ticket to the round of 16 against the American qualifier Elizabeth Mandlik in the tie-break of the third set, has finally grooved in San Jose. The number two seeded Spaniard showed an impressive performance against Coco Gauff and made it into the semi-finals 7:6 (4) and 6:2.
There it is now against Daria Kasatkina. The Russian, seeded number seven, had to deal with Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals and showed staying power in the duel with the Belarusian: In the end Kasatkina won 4: 6, 7: 5 and 6: 0.
Also in the semifinals are Shelby Roger and Veronika Kudermetova. The former showed a strong performance against Amanda Anisimova and kept the upper hand with 6: 4 and 6: 4, Kudermetova in turn was able to surprise against Ons Jabeur, who was third seeded. The Russian won 7:6 (5) and 6:2.
