Darren Cahill and Simona Halep go their separate ways after a total of six years of working together.

A week ago the wedding with multimillionaire Toni Iuruc and now the separation - but not from the neo-husband: Simona Halep announced on Twitter that she and her trainer Darren Cahill will go their separate ways with immediate effect. The Australian has looked after the Romanian with a one-year break since 2014 and led her to the top of the women's world rankings for 64 weeks in 2017 and 2018, as well as to the Grand Slam triumphs in Roland Garros in 2018 and in Wimbledon in 2019.

The 29-year-old let the public know on social media that the two separated by mutual agreement: “After six wonderful years of working together, Darren Cahill and I have decided it is time to end our employment relationship. Thank you for everything D. for making me a better tennis player and a better person. "

Cahill had been a successful tennis professional himself and was in the semifinals of the US Open in 1988. In his even more successful coaching career, he looked after players such as Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and Fernando Verdasco, as well as the women Ana Ivanovic, Daniela Hantuchova and Sorona Cirstea.

It is not known who will be Halep's new coach, and it is not known whether Cahill would like to take on a coaching position again. The man from Down-Under is currently a talent scout at the Adidas Player Development Program and an analyst at the sports platform ESPN and the Australian TV broadcaster Channel 7.
