Teichmann beat Anhelina Kalinina 6:3, 6:4 in the quarter-finals and thus made it into the semi-finals - as the only player who has not yet lost a set in the entire course of the tournament. She meets Jessica Pegula on a late shift (from 9 p.m.) on Thursday.

There's a reason why the Swiss is so successful in Madrid, as she explained after her victory: "I really like the conditions here, they're perfect," she said. "It's a mix of Spanish clay, which I train a lot on, and some height that I'm used to in Switzerland, so it's great for me."

Opponent Pegula, meanwhile, ended Sara Sorribes Tormo's run, winning 6-4, 6-2.

The first semi-final (from 12 p.m.) will be contested by Ekaterina Alexandrova, who won against Amanda Anisimova 6:4, 6:3, and Onsa Jabeur, who had beaten Simona Halep in a stop performance .
