Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) missed the quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico.

The 35-year-old lost in the round of 16 to eighth-placed Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto after a little more than two hours and a big fight 6:7 (5:7), 6:7 (3:7).
Maria was the last remaining German in the main draw in Mexico, and she easily won her opening match against the Italian Lucia Bronzetti. Jule Niemeier was eliminated in the first round on Monday without a chance.
