Nobody doubts that Darren Cahill is one of the best and most successful coaches in the tennis scene. Ask Simona Halep, for example, whom he led to the top of the world. The Australian has also been convincing as a TV expert for years. However, the engagement with Amanda Anisimova was short-lived. After the first training session with his protégé in Indian Wells, Cahill Anisimova said he felt burned out and couldn't continue working as a tour coach. This is what Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times reports.

The separation has nothing to do with Amanda Anisimova. Rather, the strict quarantine rules put pressure on the mind of the Australian trainer.

Anisimova caused a stir at the Australian Open earlier this year when she knocked out Naomi Osaka from the competition. The end came against the eventual winner Ashleigh Barty. In Indian Wells, Anisimova is now dealing with Leylah Fernandez after a smooth opening win against Emma Navarro.
