A look at the WTA world rankings shows that Iga Swiatek is currently in a league of his own. The Pole, who won her eighth title of the season in San Diego on Sunday (local time), once again extended her lead in the rankings and is now 6,280 points ahead of her first pursuer Ons Jabeur.

The top three are completed this week by Anett Kontaveit, behind whom there have been small changes. Because Paula Badosa lost her points from last year's triumph in Indian Wells, the Spaniard fell back to eighth place. The beneficiaries are Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari and Coco Gauff, all of whom improved by one place.

Huge setback for Kerber

Donna Vekic made a big leap forward, making up 30 places thanks to her finals in San Diego and now just behind the world number 46. Naomi Osaka lies. Meanwhile, Angelique Kerber had to accept a major relapse: The German slipped back 35 positions and now ranks 107th. The 34-year-old, who is about to give birth to her first child, is therefore outside the top 100 for the first time since August 2011.

The race to the WTA Finals is extremely exciting. With Swiatek, Jabeur and Pegula only three players have their tickets for the year-end tournament in Fort Worth in their pockets. The five remaining places will be played at the WTA 1000 tournament in Guadalajara this week. From the current perspective, Gauff, Sabalenka, Caroline Garcia, Daria Kasatkina and Veronika Kudermetova would complete the field of participants.
