Iga Swiatek is now at the top of the world tennis rankings for the first time - and for two reasons. On the one hand, the previous world number one Ashleigh Barty surprisingly announced the end of her career two weeks ago. And also a deletion from the world rankings .
And on the other hand: Swiatek has been the measure of all things in the past few weeks.
The 20-year-old has been in brilliant form since the tournament in Doha and, after winning there, also cleared the "Sunshine Double" with triumphs in Indian Wells and Miami . And thus won the first three 1000 tournaments of the year.
Swiatek has 6,711 points and is ahead of Barbora Krejcikova with 4,975 points and Paula Badosa with 4,970 points.
Naomi Osaka makes up 42 places
Danielle Collins also jumped three places to 8th place, Jessica Pegula made up eight places and is now the new number 13 - both new top positions. Coco Gauff is world number 15 for the first time.
Naomi Osaka has also made a huge leap back into old spheres: Thanks to her entry into the final, she made up 42 places and is listed in 35th place. Tendency: rising again. And Osaka has set itself big goals again.
Korpatsch is also climbing
From a German perspective, Angelique Kerber remains the measure of all things (No. 16) ahead of Andrea Petkovic (No. 68). Tamara Korpatsch has made a nice leap, climbing 32 places by reaching the final at the WTA 125 tournament in Marbella - she is the new number 117.
In Austria Julia Grahber remains number 1 (152nd place), in Switzerland there are three players in the top 50: Belina Bencic (No. 21), Jil Teichmann (No. 37) and Viktorija Golubic (No. 40).
