Ons Jabeur is the new number three in the women's tennis world

Ons Jabeur can't really blame themselves for anything in the 2022 season so far. Except perhaps for the bitter first-round exit at the French Open, to which the Tunisian had traveled with the confidence of some great tournament performances over the course of the European clay-court season. However, Jabeur was able to get over this setback fairly quickly: At the WTA 500 event in Berlin, the 27-year-old reported back directly with winning the title.

The reward: a new career high in the WTA world rankings, where Jabeur can now be found in third place. Only Iga Swiatek (at a respectful distance) and Anett Kontaveit (very delicate) are ahead of the North African. Paula Badosa and Maria Sakkari complete the current top 5. While there are no changes worth mentioning within the top 10, there are already some youngsters lurking behind them.

Raducanu and Gauff knock on top 10

Emma Raducanu, for example, who is currently unchanged at number 11 in the WTA charts. And especially Coco Gauff, who reached a new career high with 12th place. Behind them, Angelique Kerber, currently number 18 in the WTA world rankings, is still the best German in the classification. For the first time in the top 30, however, is the newly crowned Birmingham winner Beatriz Haddad Maia. A new career high for the Brazilian.

The biggest jump within the top 50 was made by Shuai Zhang, who was able to make up 13 places and is currently in 41st place. And thus exactly one place ahead of Naomi Osaka. Andrea Petkovic is world number 56. still the German number two, Jule Niemeier is currently in 97th place and thus the third German within the top 100 of the WTA charts. However, Tamara Korpatsch and Tatjana Maria in places 105 and 106 are knocking hard on the leap into the top 100.

Austria's number one is still Julia Grabher, the woman from Vorarlberg is 141st in the WTA world rankings. After winning the title in Pörtschach, Sinja Kraus is the new number 283 and thus the second best-placed player in the country. Barbara Haas is in 311th place.
